OBITUARY

Lydia Rath Schwindt died September 10, 2004 after a courageous struggle with cancer. She was born February

28, 1914 on a farm in Tuttle, N.D. to John H. Rath Sr. and Magdalena Vollmer Rath. Lydia married Alexander

"Alec" Schwindt November 26, 1931. They moved to the small farm town of Tuttle, N.D. where they raised their

8 children, Arley of Mandan, N.D., Erma of Sammamish, WA., Reinhart of Camano Island, WA., Leo of

Bismarck, N.D., Shirley, Orville, Sandra, and Alex all of Kirkland, WA. Lydia and Alec moved to Kirkland, WA

in 1968. She worked for Lake WA School District as a custodian, she retired in 1976. Lydia loved and cherished

her children and their spouses, and all the grandchildren. She was an inspiration to all, and life will not be the

same without "Grandma" Schwindt at family gatherings. Lydia leaves behind a great legacy of 8 living children

and spouses, 29 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, and 3 great, great, grandchildren. She has two living

siblings, one sister, Erna, and one brother, Reinhart. She also has many living nieces, nephews and cousins. Lydia

was preceed in death by her husband, Alexander, her parents, John H. and Magdalena Vollmer Rath, 6 brothers,

John, Jacob, William, Henry, Gottlieb, and Albert, one sister Elizabeth, and a one day old infant daughter,

Marion. Services will be September 15, 2004, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 11920 NE 80th, Kirkland, WA.

Arrangements by Green's Funeral Home, 400-State St., Kirkland, WA 98033. (425) 828-0496. Visitation will be

Tuesday Sept. 15, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The family will greet you from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — David G. Rexius, 76, of Sioux City, died Friday, June 25, 2004, at a Sioux City Care

Center. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., today, June 29, at the First United Methodist Church with

Reverend Roger Madden officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to Parkinson’s Research in his name. Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel in Sioux City

is assisting the family with arrangements.

David was born June 28, 1927, in Bayard, to George or (Fred?) and Lydia (Swendt) Rexius. He attended

Scottsbluff schools graduating from Scottsbluff High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. David

married Lenore Miller Aug. 3, 1946 in Scottsbluff. He was a Pen Corporation Financial sales manager for several

years, retiring in 1999. David was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Landmark Lodge #103 A.F.

and A.M., the Abu Bekr Shrine Foot Patrol, Scottish Rite Bodies, Eastern Star and served on the Westmar

College Board of Regents.

Survivors include his wife, Lenore; son, Gerald Rexius (Terri) of Sioux City; daughters, Betty Dieter (Bill); T.

Sammi Lowe; and Kathy Jara (Herb), all of Denver, Colo.; Marcy Boyd (Randy) of Madison, Wis.; and Barb

Cameron (Curt) of Vermillion, S.D.; brother, Wilbert Zeiler (Doris); and sister, Alma Kechter, all of Scottsbluff;

11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Chad Novotny; four brothers and three sisters.
